I am thrilled to announce that my artwork has been selected for Forms and Fragments, Atlantic Gallery’s (a wonderful artist-run non-profit space) inaugural online exhibition!
Out of 693 image submissions from artists across the country, juror Patricia Miranda selected approximately 60 works to curate a cohesive, vision-driven virtual show. I am deeply honored to have my work included and presented to Atlantic Gallery's online audience.
In her notes to the applicants, Patricia shared a thoughtful perspective on the jurying process that resonated deeply:
"Choosing 60 or so works from over 600 is a Sisyphean task... My requirement as juror is to pull together a body of images that feels like a coherent exhibition rather than a mix of random works. I look for strength and clarity of vision, developed ideas, and interesting use of materials... Being an artist takes guts and courage."
My sincere thanks to juror Patricia Miranda, Gallery Manager Felix Quiñonez Jr., and Atlantic Gallery—who continually fosters creative community and elevates contemporary artists.
Both Are Required navigates the visual tension between nature and the urban landscape through a fragmented, geometric framework. Created using chine collé and a layered woodcut composition (and printed in a single pull through the press), the piece integrates these 'shards' of my life to immerse the viewer in both the grid and the grit of the city alongside its organic life—disparate elements, layered together and inseparable in the mind of this lifelong Brooklyn artist.
